Peter Cockburn has been named head of UK equities at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip).
Cockburn will assume permanent responsibility for management of UK equity funds across the retail and institutional market space at Swip, after taking on the role of acting head in September last year.
Dean Buckley, managing director of Swip, said: ‘Throughout his time at Swip Peter has delivered top-quartile investment performance and demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of the UK stock market. He will drive this business forward and continue to play a significant role in Swip’s success.’
Cockburn, who joined the business in 2003, will lead a 13-strong team with more than £24 billion in assets under management. He will continue to run a number of Swip’s retail UK equity portfolios, including the Swip UK Opportunities, UK Advantage and UK Select Growth funds.
