Peter Hargreaves and Katherine Garrett-Cox awarded CBEs
by James Phillipps on Dec 31, 2013 at 12:00
Hargreaves Lansdown co-founder Peter Hargreaves and Alliance Trust chief executive Katherine Garrett-Cox have both been awarded a CBE in the New Year’s honours list.
Former Bank of England deputy governor Paul Tucker received a knighthood for services to banking. Tucker stepped down last June, bringing down the curtain on his 30 year stint at the Bank, after missing out on the top job to Mark Carney.
Hargreaves (pictured), who set up Hargreaves Lansdown with Stephen Lansdown back in 1981, received his gong for services to business innovation, financial services and to the city of Bristol, where the firm is based.
Garrett-Cox was given the CBE for services to the asset management industry and for charitable service through the Baring Foundation.
