Pictet launches short-duration EMD fund for Defise

Alain-Nsiona Defise will run a new short-duration emerging-market bond fund at Pictet Asset Management, Wealth Manager can reveal.

The Pictet Short Term Emerging Corporate Bonds fund will invest predominantly in short-term emerging corporate debt, with a maximum duration of three years.

‘This new fund aims to offer investors stable income generation and lower volatility compared to longer-term emerging market corporate debt,’ commented Defise.

‘The fund is well diversified and invests across all sectors and emerging markets globally.’

Defise, recruited from JP Morgan to become Pictet’s head of emerging corporate debt in 2012, will manage the fund alongside a team of seven.

He also runs the £656 million Pictet Emerging Corporate Bonds fund, which since inception in November 2012 has returned 1.5% compared with 4.4% from its benchmark JP Morgan CEMBI Broad Diversified Composite index.

The fund’s management fee is 0.55%.
