PRA's deputy head quits for top consulting role
by Sarah Miloudi on Sep 20, 2013 at 10:52
Paul Sharma, deputy head of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and executive director at the Bank of England for Policy, has announced he will leave his post to join a consultancy.
After 20 years as a regulator, Sharma announced he will stand down to take up a senior role at Alvarez & Marsal. He will join the firm as co-head of regulatory practice.
Announcing the departure, the Bank of England said the process of finding Sharma's successor would begin shortly.
Sharma said in a statement: 'The past 20 years as a regulator have allowed me to experience a wide range of challenges and developments in global and domestic regulation across both banking and insurance.
'It has been a great privilege working at the Bank of England, but now is the time to seek a fresh challenge.'
