Premier hires former Framlington CIO for top-performing fund

Premier has appointed former Framlington chief investment officer (CIO) Neil Birrell to manage its top performing fund following the departure of fund co-manager Raj Hallen.

Hallen left at the end of last year, while other co-manager Fred Fulcher is to concentrate on building the firm's burgeoning private client business.

The Premier Alternative Strategies fund invests mainly in structured products and has delivered strong performance over the last year, ranked in position 30 out of 170 funds in the specialist sector.

Birrell joins from Elcot Capital where he oversaw multi-strategy investments, and previously worked as CIO at Framlington Asset Management.

‘I am delighted Neil is joining Premier,’ said Mike Jennings, Premier CIO.

‘As part of Premier’s investment team, his extensive experience will be extremely valuable, not only as manager of the Premier Alternative Strategies Fund, but across Premier’s broad investment range,’ Jennings (pictured) added.
