Psigma hires Rathbone's Wishart to lead Scottish launch
by Dylan Lobo on Feb 11, 2014 at 15:20
Rathbones investment director Tim Wishart is to launch a Scottish proposition for Psigma Investment Management, Wealth Manager can reveal.
The office, based in Edinburgh, comes hot on the heels of Psigma’s launch in Birmingham last year, for which it hired Charles Stanley's Birimngham office head Toby Carpenter.
Wishart has more than 24 years’ private client investment management experience, 12 of which were spent at Rathbones. He initially started out in the firm’s London office before making the switch to Edinburgh in 2007.
At Psigma he will manage private client, charity and pension portfolios.
Psigma Investment Management chief executive John Howard-Smith (pictured) believes his firm has the potential to stand out in what is one of the most competitive UK wealth management regions.
‘Scotland offers excellent growth potential for our ambitious growth plans,’ he said.
‘This latest regional expansion further leverages our ability to share the intellectual capital and expertise of the Punter Southall Group which now has 21 Scottish based wealth management specialists.’
He also expects Wishart’s network of contacts to pay off. ‘His [Wishart’s] wealth of experience and contacts will be highly valuable to the firm, especially as we build our presence in Scotland, which we see as being another very important cornerstone of our plans for regional expansion.'
