Quilter's Gwyther named as FTSE Apcims indices chair
by Annabelle Williams on Jan 31, 2013 at 07:01
Quilter's chief investment officer has been appointed chair of the FTSE Apcims private investor indices committee.
Duncan Gwyther has been a member of the committee for 15 years and was handed the top spot after incumbent Mike Lenhoff decided to retire.
Gwyther said his appointment is a ‘challenge' he will relish’ and hopes to work to ensure the continuing relevance of the FTSE Apcims indices.
‘I am particularly pleased to continue working alongside such committed and knowledgeable committee members. There is much of importance on the agenda as we look to ensure the relevance and usefulness of the private investor indices can be maintained,’ he said.
Gwyther joins the Apcims committee at a point some may consider controversial, as in April a number of wealth managers voiced their concerns about a rise in the cost of using the indices. However he comes on board with more than two decades' experience working in the financial sector.
Gwyther has been with Quilter since 1987 after joining from Barclays. He was appointed to the chief investment officer role in 1998 and is also lead investment manager for the firm’s institutional clients.
