Rathbones bolsters Edinburgh office with Barclays hire
by Robert St George on Apr 02, 2014 at 13:29
Euan MacDonald has joined Rathbone Investment Management in Edinburgh from Barclays Wealth & Investment.
MacDonald will be an investment manager at Rathbones, supporting investment directors Christopher Godfrey-Faussett and Stephen Hunter. The team currently manages £325 million across private client, charity, trust and pension portfolios.
‘Euan is extremely talented and one to watch in my view,’ Hunter told Wealth Manager.
MacDonald began at Barclays Wealth as a graduate trainee in 2009, and during his time there he worked in the firm’s London, Geneva and Glasgow offices as a portfolio manager, investment adviser and private banker.
He managed high net worth private individuals, corporate pension funds and trusts, and holds the Investment Management Certificate and is a CFA charterholder.
Rathbones also recently strengthened its Edinburgh office with the promotion of Sally Tait.
Now an assistant investment manager supporting Godfrey-Faussett and Hunter, Tait has been at Rathbones since 2007 and has stepped into her new client-facing role after completing the Investment Advice Diploma.
In February Rathbones lost its deputy regional director in Edinburgh, Chris Sutton, to Aubrey Capital Management.
Barclays, meanwhile, was hit by a host of departures in Scotland late last year, including those of David Kerr and Lisa Brown – alongside nine colleagues – who moved to Investec’s Glasgow office as investment directors.
