Rathbone Investment Management has expanded into the north east with the opening of a Newcastle office.
As revealed by Wealth Manager, Rathbones poached a team of four investment managers from UBS last autumn.
Branch manager Nick Swales, director James Garbutt and client adviser James Kyle left UBS to help Rathbones set up its inaugural north east office.
The four are joined by Neil Minto, who worked as an investment assistant at UBS in Newcastle and Christoph Atkins, who previously worked at another Rathbones branch. The team will also have capacity for financial planning, as they are joined by IFA Kirstie McKeown from Lloyds TSB.
The news comes as Rathbones prepares to open an office in Lymington, also revealed by Wealth Manager.
In what has been a busy period for the private client stockbroker, it also recently bought up a significant stake in south-westerly IFA Vision Independent Financial Planning. Investment management head Paul Chavasse explained the move was part of Rathbones is planning to broaden its reach across the country.
Andrew Morris, Rathbones’ regional director for the north of England said the area was ‘incredibly important’ to the firm’s strategy but that it was essential to have a team on the ground in the area.
‘This new office demonstrates our commitment to delivering investment expertise supported by the highest levels of personalised client service,’ he said.
