Seymour Pierce enters takeover talks with Cantor Fitzgerald

US investment bank and bond broker Cantor Fitzgerald is in talks about a possible takeover of Seymour Pierce, in the latest round of consolidation of City trading houses.
Seymour Pierce, one of London’s oldest brokers, has been urgently seeking capital since the FSA ruled out an injection of money from Ukrainian businessman Denis Gorbunenko, reports the Financial Times.
Earlier talks with Panmure Gordon and N+1 Singer had fallen flat. ‘There was no certainty’ that the current talks would lead to a deal, an individual close to the discussion told the paper.
