SG Wealth names brewery boss as chairman
by Robert St George on May 14, 2014 at 10:56
Andy Wood, chief executive of brewers Adnams, has been appointed as chairman of SG Wealth Management.
Wood, who has been awarded the OBE, worked for Norwich Union – now Aviva – before joining Adnams in 1994.
‘From the outset SG Wealth Management has sought to do things differently in the world of financial services, such as rejecting commission-based selling in favour of a transparent fee-based approach,’ said Wood.
‘I admire that the company has always had a clearly articulated set of values that have been built around putting the customer first. There is some rich talent within the organisation and this values-based approach is what attracted me to the company.’
Neil Shillito, one of SG’s founding directors, added: ‘It’s fantastic for SG Wealth Management that Andy has joined the team. His business experience will be incredibly valuable to us as we move in to the next stage of the company’s development.’
Norwich-based SG was founded by Shillito (pictured) and Stephen Girling in 2001, and has been included in Citywire’s list of the UK Top 100 Advisers for both 2012 and 2013. The firm manages around £200 million of clients’ assets.
