SGPB Hambro's Verleyen tips Russian banks to soar

Europe is featuring more prominently in Verleyen’s private client portfolios, as he increased exposure last summer after the EU summit.

He has bought into life companies Aviva and Axa and added exposure to Continental tier one bank debt, citing Spain’s BBVA as a key position as he believes it is too important to be allowed to fail.

He has been keen on Spanish equities in general, and has bought clothing giant Inditex, travel technology company Amadeus and Telefónica. He believes equity markets are beginning to ‘normalise’, with correlations falling.
