SLI boosts board with ex-Threadneedle chief appointment
Markets
by Sarah Miloudi on Oct 01, 2012 at 10:39
Standard Life Investments (SLI) has appointed ex-Threadneedle global chief operating officer John Devine as a non-executive director.
Devine has held a number of posts in the City including those as senior vice president and head of global operations and technology managing director at Merrill Lynch, role he held prior to joining Threadneedle.
Commenting on his appointment, John Paynter, non-executive chair of SLI, said that Devine brings with him a 'wealth' of experience.
'Having worked in London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Frankfurt, John's depth and breadth of experience will be valuable as we grow our AUM (assets under management) outside Europe,' Paynter said.
At its most recent set of results, David Nish (pictured), chief executive of SLI's parent Standard Life, said that while the UK market had proved instrumental in the group's assets hitting £204.2 billion, it was looking to the likes of Canada to grow its business. It has also established an Asian and emerging markets arm.
