SLI hires Aviva Investors local currency EMD boss Curtis

Standard Life Investments (SLI) has bolstered its emerging markets team with the hire of Aviva Investors'  head of local currency emerging market bonds Kieran Curtis.

Curtis, who had been with Aviva since 2005, will report to Richard House (pictured) and will be responsible for research and development into emerging market local currency debt. SLI will also look to take advantage of his experience in the inflation-linked bond market.

SLI has made a concerted push into the EMD market since it hired House from Threadneedle last year, which resulted in the launch of a fund dedicated to the asset class in October.

Commenting on the hire of Curtis, SLI head of multi-asset investing and fixed income Euan Munro said: 'As well as having extensive experience in the EMD sector which will prove invaluable to us, he [Curtis] adds considerably to what is already a strong and talented emerging market fixed income research capability.

'Kieran’s appointment will also enrich the many global fixed income and multi-asset strategies that are run by Standard Life Investments.'
