SLI's names Zverev global equity head after Phillips defection

Standard Life Investments (SLI) has named Mikhail Zverev its head of global equities, following on from the departure of Lance Phillips for Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM).

Zverev has managed SLI's Global Equity Unconstrained fund since July 2010, a vehicle which has outperformed its peers and delivered top quartile performance over one, two and three years.

In his new role Zverev will report to David Cumming, SLI's head of equities.

'Since Mikhail joined Standard Life Investments in 2007 he has proved himself as an excellent fund manager and investor, as well as building a strong individual performance track record in managing global equities,' said Cumming (pictured), commenting on the appointment.

He added: 'His appointment will ensure continuity and stability in terms of the delivery of our investment process.  I am confident he will provide effective leadership for the global equity team.'

Previous to joining SLI, Zverev worked with First State Investments. He also had spells with Schroder Salmon Smith Barney (Citigroup) and Trigon Capital.
