Thematic head retires from Sarasin & Partners
by Robert St George on Feb 19, 2014 at 13:51
Christopher Lindsay has retired from Sarasin & Partners, where he was a partner and head of thematic policy.
'We hope to continue to work with Christopher as a consultant with his great skills to identify early-stage opportunities, and he remains a substantial shareholder in the business,' said Guy Monson, Sarasin’s managing partner and chief investment officer.
Monson also argued that thematic investing remained relevant, particularly as the market-distorting effects of quantitative easing were unwound.
‘This is really the sort of environment where thematic is at its strongest,’ he told Wealth Manager. ‘Some of these cross-border trends are now more important than ever. I am terrifically excited.’
Monson noted that a thematic framework would prove especially useful for investors looking to return to emerging markets.
Lindsay (pictured) joined Sarasin in 2007, having previously worked at UBS, Lazard and Jefferies. He was the first manager of the Citywire Selection Sarasin AgriSar fund, which launched in 2008 and now contains almost £150 million of assets.
