Turcan Connell bolsters ranks with triple hire

Turcan Connell Asset Management (TCAM) has increased its investment team’s head count by three, as the firm’s assets passed £1 billion.

The hires include Maven Capital Partners’ Edward Thomson for the Edinburgh-based wealth manager’s quantitative research function.

Thomson, who graduated with a doctorate in astrophysics, is joined by Robin Kyle and Laura Knox, who both take investment manager posts.

Kyle joins from law firm Dundas & Wilson, while Knox moves over from Turcan Connell’s legal team.

Knox was attracted to TCAM after spending six months on the investment side as part of her legal training.

TCAM is also looking to hire two senior investment managers, one focused on investment strategy and the other to help manage its growing client base.

The expansion comes after TCAM’s assets increased by £140 million in 2013 to take the firm beyond the £1 billion mark.

Chief investment officer and former Wealth Manager cover star Haig Bathgate (pictured) said of the hires: ‘The recent and impending recruits will enable us to continue to deliver the highly bespoke level of service our clients have come to expect.’
