Vertem moves into platform market with Sapia launch

Newcastle-based discretionary manager Vertem has expanded its reach with the launch of a platform for investment managers and advisers.

The platform is called Sapia Investment Services and offers investment managers, family offices and institutions custody, administration and dealing services.

Clients can opt for an all-in fee of 0.25%, which means there are no additional dealing charges. Alternatively there is a tariff which has a lower custody fee alongside a charge per transaction aimed at those intending to trade less.

Vertem partnered with Third Financial and Tercero to provide the underlying technology.

‘The idea was to be competitively priced and flexible so that clients could deliver cost-effective solutions on to their clients,’ Vertem founder John Dance (pictured) said.

There are no minimums to use the platform, which can trade funds, investment trusts, direct securities, structured products, ETFs and derivatives.

As part of the initiative, Vertem has also launched Sapia Access, an online portal that allows advisers to sign their clients up to core propositions and model portfolios, with streamlined quotes and consolidated Key Investor Information Documents.

The firm charges an all-in fee of 25 basis points, alongside clean share classes and no dealing charges.
Dance said his business now uses Sapia as its platform, with a number of companies already on board.
