Wealth Manager Top 100 star swaps BestInvest for Standard Life
by Dylan Lobo on Dec 05, 2013 at 10:45
Bestinvest senior fund researcher Mark Lane has left to take up a post with Standard Life Investments.
Lane (pictured) joined Bestinvest straight from Trinity College, Dublin, on the day Lehmans went bankrupt in September 2008. He formerly covered fund selection in the UK Income, European, Japanese and commodities sectors.
He was also responsible for the firm’s structured product selection, primarily used by its discretionary fund managers. The news comes at interesting points in the evolution of both Bestinvest and Standard Life’s businesses.
Last month, 3i sold its majority stake in Bestinvest to private equity firm Permira, which Wealth Manager last week revealed was also on the verge of acquiring Tilney from Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management. Meanwhile, Standard Life is merging its wealth and investment units under SLI chief executive Keith Skeoch.
While Bestinvest confrimed Lane's departure, Standard Life declined to comment.
