SWIP Absolute Return Bond

Manager Neil Murray steered the fund ahead of the pack in 2009 after three years of negative returns. He has benefited from being short duration and picking through the minefield of financials, with holdings in Abbey and AIG strong performers in December.

Threadneedle Absolute Return Bond

Quentin Fitzsimmons and Peter Allwright are favouring sovereign and sub-sovereign debt with a 64.2% weighting, and AAA-rated paper at 54%. The fund delivered a slight negative return in December, hit by a long gilts versus German bunds position.
